Today marks the beginning of a journey to drive greater gender equality across the club industry in the ACT with the launch of the Women in Clubs network.
ClubsACT President, Kim Marshall said the initiative brings together a dedicated group of women who aim to improve, encourage, inspire and support women’s involvement in shaping the future of the club industry in the ACT.
“As a long-time director of the Canberra Southern Cross Club, I understand the importance of diversity in all roles within the club industry. The Women in Clubs network has a purpose, to drive gender balance and influence equitable outcomes in the clubs industry.
“The role of the network is to foster the professional development of women to maximise retaining high performers and assisting women to achieve their full potential.
“The Women in Clubs network will advocate for increasing the number of women in all roles within our clubs by increasing awareness of these opportunities for women in the industry.
“A key focus of the Women in Clubs network will be establishing a Male Champions of Change program – a public commitment by senior leaders across the industry to drive gender equality.
“The network will design and oversee sponsoring, mentoring and leadership programs that proactively help advance women’s career options, increase their skills, and experience to enable them to contribute within our club industry on all levels.
“A program of networking events with presentations by influential speakers will also be launched in coming weeks to provide opportunities for women in the industry to connect, inspire and thrive.” Ms Marshall concluded.
