Craig Shannon has been appointed the new Chief Executive of ClubsACT.
He has only recently finished in his role as the Senior Policy Advisor for the Western Australian Police Minister The Hon Michelle Roberts MLA.
Craig is a long time Canberra resident and his career roles have included:
Mr. Shannon said that “I am looking forward to returning to Canberra and taking up the opportunity of representing Canberra Clubs to the industry stakeholders and the wider community. Clubs are the lifeblood of Canberra. The sporting, entertainment, social and cultural role they provide is a key foundation of our local community. The industry also has an important role as a significant local employer, especially in providing employment opportunities for Canberra’s young people.”
Craig commences at the end of April following a handover period from outgoing CEO Gwyn Rees.
Kim Marshall, President of Clubs ACT welcomed the appointment. She said “His long standing ‘commitment to the Canberra community’s development, combined with his extensive advocacy and consultation skills, will add a significant boost to the positive enhancement of the ACT Club industry and the wider Canberra community.”
She also thanked out going CEO Gwyn Rees for his tireless and passionate advocacy and she wished him well for his future.
