ClubsACT Support ACT Vaccination Response

The peak body for Canberra’s Licenced Club industry has announced their full support for the ACT Government’s commitment to the National Plan to transition Australia’s National COVID-19 Response.

The CEO of ClubsACT, Mr Craig Shannon said “Our Industry has taken a responsible approach to handling this pandemic from the beginning and we fully support the ACT Government’s vaccination target for the local community.

Our members hope to re-open trading at the earliest opportunity and in a fully viable way. The more protection from this virus we can achieve within the local community is beneficial to our staff, our club members and the broader Canberra community.

Licensed Clubs have been encouraging and supporting staff and members in securing vaccination shots and will continue to do so. On the feedback we have had from members, there is already high vaccination rate amongst staff across the sector and little sign of vaccine hesitancy. “

The ACT Club Industry is working closely with the ACT Government in managing the impacts of the current lockdown and support the vaccination targets as a measure to give enhanced safety and freedom of movement to the Canberra Community.

“Licensed Clubs in the ACT are keen to get back to full operations at the earliest opportunity and the linkage of this outcome with the vaccination rates should be an incentive for the unvaccinated to book in as early as possible for their shots and as soon as they can.

As a community we have responded well to date on this issue and we have been fortunate that the ACT Government has shown leadership both locally and nationally on the response to this pandemic. The Licensed club industry has supported and will continue to support the vaccination program. We want club employees and club members to be as safe and healthy as possible. We will continue to work with the Government to see how collectively we can return Canberra’s community back to being able to fully enjoy all the opportunities Canberra has to offer.

Canberra Clubs play an important role within the community on so many levels and a return to full activity at the earliest opportunity is our key objective. Every vaccinated person is a step on the road back to this important objective.” Mr Shannon said.
